Mother's Day

As you know, yesterday was Mother's Day and a good one it was. In the morning, we made our mom breakfast in bed (as is our tradition) then we gave her gifts (I believe they were a teapot, a purse, a tea kettle, and the little ones made her cards). Oh, and one gift that was from all of us was a video. The night before, Momo had us all film each other saying why we love our mom, then we put it on video.
Over all, it was a very enjoyable Mother's Day. =)

Faith like potatoes

We recently decide to rent a move that's trailer we had seen and that's name was so interesting, we couldn't forget it - Faith like potatoes.

Faith like potatoes is a powerful film which demonstrates the importance of faith and the power of God. Based on the autobiography of the same name about Angus Buchan, a Scottish farmer-turned-evangelist living in Africa, the film revolves around the Buchan family, especially Angus, as you follow them through a difficult move, a life-changing decision and many faith-testing testing trials.

At the beginning of the film, Angus's life is a mess and he has a serious temper; starting from scratch in South Africa is hard and Angus spends a lot of his time drinking. Tragedy plays a part in this film and adds a sad tone to the movie. Be prepared for a somewhat distrubing scene. Overall, however, Faith like potatoes has strong foundation and is a powerful and moving story. I would call this movie a must see!

Renovation

I completely agree with what Momo said! And like my sister, Momo said, we are doing a very large yard renovation. Our dad brought out his skidsteer (Momo called it a backhoe and I added a picture of it) into the yard to soften the dirt, mix in the manure, and smooth the dirt. Then we planted grass and tomorrow our dad (with the help of us and some of our cousins) is going to build a rap-around cement porch with the a shade screen on top. Also tomorrow, I will be working on a rabbit hutch for Edward. I'll post some pictures of the porch and my rabbit hutch when we're done with them.

Along with helping my dad laying the sod outside, I also gave Edward a bath. I smell very dirty now and should probably take a shower. :-p

Like father, like son

We have been doing quite a bit of work in our backyard lately. Tonight Dad got out the backhoe to help get the ground ready for the grass we are putting in, and our little foster boy, "R", got to help him. As "R" was riding on the backhoe he was very excited. Every time he works with Dad he is happy. The more and more time he spends helping Dad, the more he likes to act like him. He often tells us, "Bye guys! I'm going to work!" he then will pretend to work and tell us the name of the tools he is using, reminding us that Dad uses those same tools at his job. "R" tries to act like Dad a lot of the time, especially the more he is with him.

That got me thinking: the more and more time we spend with Jesus the more we can act like Him. If “R” didn't know what our dad liked and did, how could he mimic him? In the same way, the more time we spend with Jesus the more we will be able to act like Him. I will never be perfect, I am very, very far from that, but I do know that the more time I spend in God's word, prayer, and praise I find myself able to be a better example for Christ. I struggle time and again with giving my all to Jesus rather than just going thru the motions without the true submisive heart that Christ desires from us. We need to come to Christ as "R" comes to Dad, with a believing chlidlike heart. In Luke 18:16 (New King James Version) it says "But Jesus called them to Him and said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God."
